Last week was a blast as we had many things to celebrate! Everyone is doing a fantastic job in their Rocket Math and Sight Word Karate. Students were able to eat lunch in the classroom to celebrate completing their book projects with their buddies and we had a great Valentine's Day Party. Thank you to all the parents that were able to come.

In science we are learning about living and nonliving things. We are going to begin working with Kindergarten to create box sized ecosystems. They are going to be put into groups and will work together to paint and add details with cardboard, pipe cleaners, sticks, tissue paper, etc.If you have any supplies or things laying around at home that we could you please feel free to send them in. Thank you so much.
In reading and writing we are going to be working on Non-Fiction text. We will be reading informational text and learning about the different parts of the text such as pictures, charts, bold fonts, etc. In writing the kids will be exploring different ways to write to inform readers. In the coming weeks we will write about animals and saints. Please look for information coming soon about the saint report as it will involve the whole family! I can't wait!
We dove straight into working with multiple economic subjects. We have been practicing our money skills, talking about good and services, as well as wants and needs. These topics have brought on some great conversations in our classroom. I am very excited for our field trip to the School of Economics on Wednesday. I know the kids will shine.
While we have been getting back into the swing of things from break we have refreshed ourselves on the proper ways to read and write. I will be stressing with them the importance of handwiriting and continually thinking while reading and writing. I look forward to our next reading unit covering Fiction and Nonflction text. This group is always up for the next adventure and i'm so proud of them.
I was also very proud of the kids during the Christmas program! Here are some of the pictures that I was able to capture!
And of course our weeks most exciting day was Friday when Miss Elaina finally joined us. I loved the joy on each child's face as they walked into the classroom to meet her. I hope that Elaina is feeling welcomed, this group is very excited to have her. I can already tell that she will fit right in! Welcome to the Wells family!
